VACANCY - TDP Head Coach

East Coast Bays AFC are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified coach to lead one of our Boys/ Mixed Talent Development Program teams, with additional responsibilities available for the right candidate. This role is fantastic opportunity for a high potential coach to work in one of New Zealand's leading Talent Development Programs alongside top-class practitioners and facilities.  

Vacancy: Talent Development Program Head Coach 

Location: East Coast Bays AFC, Auckland, New Zealand 

Contract Type: Part-time contract - Min 0.3 FTE 

Start: January 2025 

Work type: Hybrid 

Hours: Flexible during day, must be available for evening and weekend hours in line with sporting demands.  

Reports to: ECBAFC Director of Football & ECBAFC Operations Manager 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality training sessions aligned with the TDP curriculum. 
  • Foster a positive, growth-oriented environment that encourages player development. 
  • Deliver match-day coaching in line with ECBAFC and NZF Talent Development policies.  
  • Monitor and assess player progress, providing feedback and development plans. 
  • Collaborate with the club's coaching team to align with East Coast Bays AFC's player development philosophy. 

The Program: 

 The aims of the ECBAFC Talent Development Program are to develop the whole person: 

  • Supportive, safe and enjoyable environment to learn and play football on two artificial turfs at Ashley Reserve (Long Bay)  
  • Provide a holistic football education from 13 - 17 years of age with a focus on developing character, lifestyle, problem-solving and teamwork 
  • Football philosophy that is adapted to develop appropriate skills in each age group, balancing skill development with enjoyment and challenge 
  • Developing game-breaking players through an individual development focus, within a friendly and competitive team setting 
  • Specialist focus on learning to outplay defenders and excel in 1v1 situations. 
  • Regular individual goal setting and mentoring sessions 
  • Educational workshops and educational material in injury prevention, nutrition and pathway 

Requirements: 

  • Relevant coaching qualifications (minimum NZF C Licence, NZF B License preferred). 
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or ongoing studies related to Exercise Science, Sports Coaching and/or Sports Management preferred. 
  • Experience coaching youth players, preferably in a Talent Development Program. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to inspire, mentor, and motivate young players. 
  • Commitment to player welfare and fostering a positive team culture. 
  • Must have own transport and a valid NZ Driver's License 
  • Must complete police vetting.
