Change in 2024 Season End Dates

We have been informed by our governing body Northern Region Football (NRF) that they need to finish the junior and community season early for some teams in Auckland.

Their original request to Auckland Council park maintenance for grass field access until 22 September is no longer possible. Council needs this maintenance window after a busy season that's strained facilities and grass fields across Auckland along with late season wet weather, but they have negotiated access to 95% of grass fields for the weekend of 14/15 September. 
They state that they are sorry for this unexpected early finish for some teams but this is beyond their control.  

What it means for your season 

• 8 September – Council will need some fields back for renovation ahead of the summer season, due to this a limited number of grass fields will be unavailable for training or games

• 14/15 September - fixtures unchanged 
• This will be the last day for the Mini Bays and Junior football season 2024 (which is 1 week less than planned)

• 16 September - all grass fields returned to Council for spring and summer renovations
• Clubs needing access to grass fields need to complete casual booking application process with Council

• 21/22 September
• Mini Bays & Junior football originally scheduled for this date cancelled
• Youth Football - selected games only on turf
• Senior Football - selected games only on turf 

• 28/29 September - NRF Community Cup Finals go ahead as planned @ Parrs Park, Oratia

Please note 

• Youth and Senior football teams can check their draws on nrf.org.nz to see if they play on 21/22 September - NRF will have fixtures updated by 17 September
• NRF will prioritise playing games involving league titles and / or relegation so they can be finalised on sporting merit  
• A plan is in place with Council for 2025 and beyond, NRF will update clubs when this is finalised

We understand that this is frustrating but unfortunately is out of our control. For Youth and Senior teams, please check with your team manager to see if your game is to go ahead or not on 21/22 September after the fixtures are confirmed on 17 Sept.
